Message from the Assistant Superintendent

Welcome to the Gilroy Unified School District Educational Services Division web page.

The overarching goal of Educational Services is to provide meaningful and lasting support for our Early Childhood programs, elementary schools, middle schools, alternative schools, comprehensive high schools, and our Adult Education/Literacy programs. This support takes many forms, and it involves participants from within our district and from outside agencies when appropriate or required.

The Educational Services Division is prepared to address the needs and requirements of schools through the various departments:

  1. After-School Programs
  2. Curriculum, Instruction and Intervention
  3. Early Childhood Programs
  4. Migrant Education and CBET
  5. Specialized Programs and Accountability
  6. Student Assessment and Program Evaluation
  7. Teacher Support – BTSA and PAR
  8. Additional Educational Services
  9. K - 12 Home Schooling

Please visit the individual departments listed above for more information.

Educational Services believes that the work of the division is to serve the students and families, teachers and administrators, and the GUSD community, by improving the learning conditions, expectations and opportunities for all. GUSD ES strives to meet the challenge to move from Good to Great throughout the district office and schools.

Since fall 2007, GUSD has implemented the Academic Program Survey (APS), the District Assistance Survey (DAS), the English Learner Subgroup Self Assessment (ELSSA), the EL School Level Tool (ELSLT), and the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). The GUSD Local Education Agency Plan (LEAP) was developed in 2003, and it is being revised, including Title III requirements, this school year. This district has been moving from good to great steadily through its API and AYP growth. The district student population is also growing, and our demographics have been shifting. Throughout these transitions, the Educational Services Division continues to keep its eyes on the prize – improved student achievement.

The ES Division has attached several documents to this page that impact our work or that were created by our departments. Take a moment to review these to learn more about the work we do.

Sincerely,

Basha

Education is not the answer to the question. Education is the means to the answer to all questions.
